In one sentence

A two-year postgraduate degree in data science, completed with Merit, with a dissertation on applying large language models to recommender systems.

What I did

Studied advanced machine learning, AI model development, and data engineering — working with real-world datasets across finance, biomedicine, and social media contexts. Built and evaluated predictive models, worked with neural networks, and developed applied data pipelines throughout the programme.

For my dissertation, I researched how large language models can be integrated into recommender systems to improve personalisation and reasoning beyond what traditional methods offer. That research was later extended into a co-authored paper submitted to IEEE Access, in collaboration with researchers at Kent State University and the University of Akron.

Outcome

Graduated with Merit. Dissertation research contributed directly to a peer-reviewed IEEE Access paper submission, currently under editorial review.
